The Position

The Digital Health and Connected Care Lead will be responsible for envisioning, developing and implementing a comprehensive Digital Health and Connected Care strategy aligned with Novo Nordisk Incorporated’s overarching business objectives and market needs. This role will drive commercial excellence by deepening the understanding of the customer journey and associated touchpoints, providing strategic guidance to therapeutic area (TA) teams for creating more meaningful customer engagement and value through Digital Health. They will be instrumental in navigating the evolving landscape of healthcare and technology integration. This role will be focused on diabetes, obesity, CV/renal, emerging and rare disease therapeutic areas.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Customer Experience and Human Centered Design Lead. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including therapy area marketing teams, portfolio strategy/BD&L, analytics, legal, regulatory, technology/IT, medical, R&D and global commercial strategy/digital teams to ensure proper alignment and successful execution of Digital Health initiatives.

 

Essential Functions

  • Digital Health and Connected Care Strategy Development: Lead the development of a Digital Health and Connected Care strategy that aligns with NNI’s business objectives and goals across therapeutic areas. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a holistic approach to Digital Health, incorporating aspects such as data, devices, diagnostics and digital solutions
  • Opportunity Identification: Identify key Digital Health opportunities and challenges within the customer experience landscape based on a deep understanding of the customer journey, market needs, and analytics insights. Generate innovative Digital Health solutions to enhance patient outcomes, improve health delivery and drive business growth
  • Innovation and Emerging Technologies: Evaluate and recommend digital solutions that can enhance customer engagement, brand positioning, and overall commercial success based on latest innovations and emerging Digital Health technologies
  • Technology Partnerships and Vendor Management: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with Digital Health start-ups, technology companies and other external partners to execute effectively and efficiently on Digital Health ideas and gain access to cutting edge solutions. Manage vendor or partner relationships to support implementation and execution of digital initiatives
  • Digital Health Product Execution: Drive the development and implementation of Digital Health or Connected Care products including project planning and product management activities. Support implementation by educating stakeholders on how to utilize the digital products and encourage adoption
  • Strategic Guidance to Therapeutic Area (TA) Teams: Provide strategic guidance and insights to therapeutic area teams on leveraging Digital Health and Connected Care elements for more impactful and personalized customer engagement. Collaborate with TA teams to align Digital Health strategies with specific therapeutic goals and enable cross-functional omnichannel engagement planning
  • Performance Metrics: Define and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of Digital Health strategies. Develop best practices on how to measure customer engagement, satisfaction, and impact within Digital Health initiatives
  • Capability Building: Foster a culture of innovation and digital fluency within the organization through the development of resources that build capabilities in understanding and implementing Digital Health and Connected Care strategies
  • Regulatory and Compliance Alignment: Ensure that Digital Health initiatives align with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the healthcare and Digital Health space. Establish quality assurance processes and protocols to support implementation
  • Budget Management: Manage Digital Health budget by effectively allocating resources and tracking expenses. Identify areas for cost optimization to maximize ROI
  •  

    Physical Requirements

    Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

     

    Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Business, Digital Health, or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience, including demonstrated history in strategic planning, with a focus on Digital Health and emerging technologies
  • Experience with US operations within life sciences preferred
  • Proven success in leading Digital Health initiatives preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company, healthcare provider or Digital Health start-up
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into Digital Health strategies and execute in alignment with business objectives and market needs
  • In-depth knowledge of Digital Health technologies, platforms solutions and trends including remote monitoring, digital therapeutics, wearables and health apps
  • Proficiency in Digital Health analytics and software tools
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and apply creative thinking to complex business challenges
  • Strategic Planning, Execution and follow-through skills required
  • Strong project management skills to lead and oversee multiple initiatives from concept to execution, while adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to Digital Health
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex, emerging Digital Health concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Proven track record of innovative market shaping accomplishments/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI) within Digital Health
  • Experience with management of external partners
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive cross-functional initiatives
  • Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity
