ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assist with all vehicle and trailer maintenance.
- Assist shipping department with deliveries when needed; including warehouse loads and hauling boom lift to our other locations.
- Housekeeping maintained and kept at a high standard.
- Provide a list of all companies and vendors we currently order parts from in order to aide placing future orders.
- Be willing to train new hires with computer programs and record keeping; maintain proper vehicle records.
- Perform road calls when necessary.
- Repairs and maintains diesel engines used to power trucks; using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
- Recondition and replaces parts, such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings, using engine lathes, boring machines, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
- Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
- Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.
- Special projects and assignments as business dictate.
- Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Five years' experience working as a Diesel Mechanic.
