UIC is seeking a Desktop & AV Support to join our University Library. This role supports public and staff desktop computing and AV environments in the Daley Library and the Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago. Maintains A/V systems and is the primary contact for events in the libraries. Installs, deploys, and maintains desktop computing systems in a mixed environment (Windows, Mac). Monitors, troubleshoots and resolve system applications and network connectivity issues.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Select, maintain and operate A/V equipment in the Library's Chicago sites and act as the primary resource for event support.
- Install and maintain endpoint management systems for remote installation, imaging, pushing upgrades, monitoring software for all library computers. Maintain hardware and software inventory.
- Solve hardware and software issues for staff and public computers; identify, research, and resolve problems related to operating systems, applications and network connectivity.
- Maintain system security including network infrastructure in accordance with University security policies.
- Provide training and serve as a resource for IT student employees in resolving complex technical issues.
- Write and maintain systems documentation.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 1 years of professional IT experience within IT Support Services which includes demonstrated experience providing end-user technical and troubleshooting support with computer hardware, software and classroom technologies within desktop and networking environments via, telephone, ticketing systems and/or onsite resolution.
- Demonstrated experience performing Windows desktop support in an organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (degree in computer science, information science, or closely related field
- Experience setting up and operating A/V equipment for in-person and hybrid meetings and classroom instruction.
- Experience using a configuration management tool (SCCM, Intune)
- Active directory experience
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience performing Macintosh desktop support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively troubleshoot technical problems, isolate problem causes, and implement solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and to provide excellent user-centered service in a culturally diverse higher education environment.
