Chart's project engineering group provides efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component to large scale plant designs, associated with cryogenic applications. The NPD Designer is an exciting role that will create and support designs for Charts future products in Hydrogen fueling stations/systems.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be...
- Create and maintain accurate 3D models and assemblies to reflect the mechanical design and customer requirements.
- Mechanical focal point in a team environment for system layout and design.
- Create bills of material and fabrication prints for various sizes of industrial equipment.
- Incorporating and managing designs from concept to manufacturing.
- Facilitate meetings with other departments that focus on the design review and approval processes.
- Review documentation from other engineers and designers in a document review process.
- Collaborating with suppliers regarding the geometry and documentation of purchased parts.
- Ensure company standards and procedures are incorporated into manufacturing drawings.
- Work independently with a high level of accuracy to complete assigned projects on time.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams, as well as other associated departments.
- Process Engineering Change Orders as needed.
- Provide support for special testing and fixtures.
- Work daily with the shop floor on projects as they move through production.
- Good interpersonal skills are a must

Your Professional Experience Should Be...
Experience
- Three to five years' work experience
- Preferred experience in new product development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with three-dimensional mechanical design software
- Solidworks required
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and quality principles
- Preferred: experience with SolidWorks piping and routing module
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Working collaboratively in a team environment
Your Education Should Be...
- Technical degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design
- Preferred: Certification in Solidworks
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require...
- This position will require the ability to move around the production floor and investigate production issues with your designed equipment.
- Lift up to 15 pounds
- Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting
- Possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors
- Liquid nitrogen testing
