Description
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac Engineering Center three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
The Role:
In this role of Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for developing math design solutions to meet subsystem and component requirements. This activity develops independent problem solving and multi-functional issue resolution. You will be required to have working knowledge of SMT Design and Engineering Best Practices. You will be an expert in GM CAD and Data Management System, Windows Suite, and VisMockup. You will exercise creative solution development with some technical direction from Lead Designer. Become experienced with Development Process and the math fidelity of each cycle. Proficient in CAD Tools and deep understanding of Standard Modeling Methods.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Mentor for system/subsystem requirement, and GM CAD and Data Management System for their SMT area
Develop, refines and finalizes Criteria and Typical Sections
Owner of Standard Modeling Methods or Virtual Integration Methods for their Program and SMT area
Proficient in and able to teach Design Standards, Best Practices and Global Design infoBOOK Standards
Demonstrated application of design operations and processes (Standard modeling, Clearance Analysis, Vehicle Assembly Structure, Global Data Security, etc.)
Apply manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts, subsystem designs and vehicle integration
Facilitate and participate in Design / Virtual Reviews, both scheduled and informal as required
Document and maintains material, mass, and other part specifications within the Math file
Support CAE with studies to improve designs
Complete, analyzes and applies NX Analysis results to solution set for their subsystem / components
Very knowledgeable of and experienced with Development Process and the math fidelity for each cycle
Independently integrate component subsystem designs into systems
Perform appropriate studies/alternatives / layouts, and participate in recommendations to program direction
Stay ahead of current product developments and trends in area of responsibility
Support lessons learned through updating Best Practices and learning sessions with Designers
Lead and create math data (models) or virtual layouts of very advanced and complex components, systems and subsystems
Dedicatedly communicates effectively with all partners
Release system/subsystem to meet GVDP requirements with quality, on time
Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field OR 7+ years of experience in electrical design
5+ years of Engineering Electrical Design with Bachelor's Degree
Experience in GM CAD (NX, Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, etc...)
Experience in Electrical Product Design concepts and manufacturing processes. (i.e. injection molding, stamping, extrusion, machining, etc.)
xperienced in vehicle electrical harness routing (High Voltage and Low Voltage)
High level of Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others including global partners
Working knowledge of CAE and eGD&T
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and VisMockup
