Hidden Creek is currently seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Design Intern to join our creative team. This internship is an excellent opportunity for aspiring designers to gain hands-on experience, contribute to real-world projects, and develop essential skills in landscape design and construction. As a Design Intern at Hidden Creek Landscaping, you will embark on a dynamic and immersive journey into the world of landscape design and construction. This internship is designed to provide aspiring designers with hands-on experience in a creative and collaborative environment. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will contribute to real-world projects, refine your design skills, and actively participate in the entire design-build process.

This is a fully on-site role.

Typical hours of operation are 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design Development: Collaborate with our skilled design team to create conceptual designs and construction plans, understanding client preferences and incorporating feedback into design concepts.

Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to enhance project efficiency. Attend and participate in regular project review meetings.

Project Execution: Participate in on-site activities to witness the implementation of designs into tangible outdoor spaces. Provide team support to ensure projects adhere to established timelines and quality standards.

Professional Development: Participate in continuous learning opportunities to broaden your understanding of the design-build process.

Internship Components:

Orientation and Training:

  • Introduction to Hidden Creek Landscaping's design principles, core values, and company culture.
  • Training in design software and tools used within the organization.
  • Overview of ongoing projects and the role of the design team.

Hands-On Design Projects:

  • Work on real projects under the guidance of experienced designers.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to understand client expectations and preferences.
  • Engage in the entire design process, from conceptualization to construction documents.

Meetings and Reviews:

  • Attend weekly meetings to review ongoing projects and receive feedback.
  • Participate in project reviews with the sales team, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in continuous learning by reading, listening to, or watching developmental materials.

Final Presentation:

  •  Prepare a final presentation showcasing the projects worked on during the internship.
  • Provide insights gained, challenges overcome, and recommendations for improvement.

Experience Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a landscape design, architecture, Horticulture, or related program. (Equivalent landscape design experience at an employer)
  • Proficiency in design software, specifically:
    • AutoCAD (Timed in-person assessment will be administered during selection process)
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • SketchUp
    • LandFx (Preferred but not required)
  •  Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  •  Passion for landscape design and construction.
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Candidates will be expected to submit a portfolio, and a cover letter outlining your interest in the Design Build Intern position.

Physical Demands:

  • Employee will work in both an office and field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens
  • Employee will be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time; operate motorized vehicles
  • Employee will regularly be required to see in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and regularly required to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
