The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
As a Design Engineer, you will have the responsibility to support the technological development and validation for linkage pin and bearing systems used in Caterpillar machines. This role will enable the development of key leadership skills to build strong and strategic relationships with both machine business unit process partners and strategic suppliers. You will collaborate to provide technical guidance to global teams while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. This role will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects associated with New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Enterprise Strategic Initiatives. Finally, this role will allow you to stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach team members, and broaden your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Direct the planning and execution of component scale tests to develop linkage pin and bearing systems.
Collaborate with team members and machine group partners to validate new technologies and resolve product issues.
Contribute to the planning and execution of competitive benchmarking activities.
Maintain relationships with process partners to understand and guide component strategy for linkage pin and bearing systems.
Stay abreast of material and design trends that could deliver differentiation to linkage pin and bearing systems.
Develop and lead New Technology Introduction projects focused on linkage pin and bearing wear modeling, prediction, and accelerated testing.
Communicate status and results to process partners, suppliers, and team members.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Material Science
Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Managing Multiple Priorities : Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Technical Excellence : Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Product Design and Development : Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Top Candidates will also have:
Design, development, or analysis experience related to components
Material science, metallurgy, or tribology experience.
Mechanical aptitude
Strong technical leadership skills and desire to solve difficult engineering challenges
Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently and make sound priority decisions
Project management skills – develop, maintain, and execute a project plan
Analytical skills and data analysis experience
Proficient with Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

This position does not offer relocation and is located in Mossville Building H.
This position requires 10% or less travel
