Princeton Tool, a Princeton Precision Group company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Design Engineer to join and grow in the PPG organization. The Fixture and Gauge Design Engineer is responsible for designing all new fixture and gauge projects according to customer or production specifications. The Design Engineer will support continuous improvement efforts by contributing to the improvement and implementation of current Fixtures and Gauges in use.
Requirements

• Design and develop new fixture and gauge projects according to customer or production specifications
• Collaborate with production team to ensure designs are efficient and effective
• Sketch rough layouts and compute angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes
• Coordinate with other engineering staff to complete projects on time
• Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications
• Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design challenges
• Evaluate and implement design changes, specifications, and drawing releases as directed
• Continuously improve designs and processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Conduct testing and analysis to ensure designs meet quality standards
• Use computer-assisted design/drafting software to develop designs
• Provide technical support to production team during implementation of new designs
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred; or 3+ years on the job experience designing Fixtures and Gauges for the investment casting and / or aerospace & defense industries
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Strong ability to design using Solidworks, NX, Fusion 360 or like software
• Ability and willingness to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and proportions to practical situations
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
