The Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting composite components on new and existing programs. This role will support a range of products including ECS Ducting, ISR Pods, Fairings, Radomes and more. This person will be responsible managing all facets of composite engineering design programs including design, testing, test plans, test reports, qualification, tooling, schedules, technical customer meetings, etc.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience and success with composite part design, composite manufacturing, program management, project estimating and bid and proposals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Communication of program expectations and goals to team members
- Communicate program issues with the UCI Management Team
- Support and create UCI IP that can be used on current and future programs
- Support technology development for the UCI engineering department
- Examines customer-furnished engineering datasets to determine project requirements, feasibility, and compatibility with core competencies.
- Support manufacturing engineering and operations throughout the project's lifetime, including failure investigation, design of experiments, process improvement, and cost reduction.
- Monitors technical performance of assigned programs. Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
- Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated success in all functional areas within a fast-paced, technically focused manufacturing growth environment is essential. Must be hands-on capable of effective project management and implementing tactics to drive Company initiatives in a time sensitive manner.
- Must be results-oriented and demonstrate strategic thinking, innovation, flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations
- Proficiency in reading aerospace drawings,
- Extensive experience creating model-based definition utilizing Catia, Solid Works or similar design software.
- Demonstrate outstanding organizational, communication, and management skills, and a rigorous attention to detail
- Ability to effectively demonstrate business skills and lead multiple projects. Thorough knowledge of industry practices and the marketplace associated with fielded product or service

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences.
Experience: 10+ years composite Design Engineering experience supporting a manufacturing organization.
- Project management experience preferred
- 3D CAD modeling proficiency (CATIA, Solid Works)
