This Position...
As a Design Engineer, you are
responsible for engineering initiatives related to product design of all models of precast buildings and concrete products and provide technical support to internal and external customers. Provide expertise knowledge on general building construction, precast concrete, as well as building, plumbing, and electrical code requirements, and understanding of all ADA standards.
Some examples of the work you might do includes....
  1. Responsible for designing precast concrete buildings and other precast products to meet customer specifications and provide complete drawing package to Operations for production.
  2. Provide technical support to outside sales team with specifications, drawing criteria and solution recommendations for customer quotes.
  3. Perform calculations required to design MEP systems.
  4. Create submittal packages, proposal drawings and production drawing sets.
  5. Produce BOM from manufacturing instructions and drawings.
  6. Provide quality review of prepared drawings for engineering team prior to submittal to sales and operations.
  7. Provide technical support to CAD Designer team and project managers for order submittal packages.
  8. Collaborate and assist with Quality Control Department in understanding specifications and performing first article validation.
  9. Provide and implement continual improvement suggestions using software automation and streamlining of processes to reduce time, errors and costs when designing drawings, and submittal packages.
  10. Attend and represent the engineering team in meetings with production, quality, sales, and project managers.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need...
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical) or similar degree required.
  • 2-4 years' experience in construction and industrial design.
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk products (Revit, Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D).
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Professional level understanding of drafting standards and principles.
  • Advanced with Microsoft Excel (formulas, hyperlinks, sorting and searching data).
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate knowledge of mathematical concepts (calculate volumes, load calculations, metric equivalents, drawing scales) and ability to calculate by hand and other tools.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of precast concrete design.
  • Desire to continue to grow and develop.
  • Ability to travel to plant locations as required.
