Job Summary: Provides engineering support for all aspects of product design and analysis to ensure functionality, quality, cost, qualification, certification, and schedule while complying with engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Utilizes invention, imagination, and originality to produce and alter unique design concepts based on verbal or written ideas.
2. Analyzes the risks of new designs to determine the level of structural soundness and communicates approval or disapproval of design to Draftsman.
3. Creates engineering documents for designs, to include processes for testing the product and processes for reporting test results.
4. Builds simulated models of custom-designed products.
5. Coordinates directly with outside customers to discuss design issues, make recommendations for solutions to problems, and obtain customer approval of design.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelors degree or higher in engineering or engineering related field; and five to ten years previous experience in Design Engineering required.
2. Knowledge of engineering principles.
3. Experience with NX (CATIA) strongly preferred.
4. Ability to utilize invention, imagination and originality to apply principles of geometry in designing unique products.
5. Ability to provide leadership; motivate others; inspire respect and trust; effectively influence the actions of others.
6. Ability to take a design concept from the customer and produce quality engineering drawings and documents.
7. Ability to multi-task and perform duties requiring varied mental functions.
8. Ability to use office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, fax and telephone. Computer skills must include ability to type and manage files.
9. Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, co-workers and management.
10. Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
11. Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; using independent judgment responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
12. Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine and complex reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in front of customers or employees. Ability to read, write and understand the English language. Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with customers, management and co-workers, including the ability to communicate complex design issues to non-technical recipients; and the ability to listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry; and basic understanding of Trigonometry to work with complex shapes. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to solve practical problems involving several concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read, analyze and interpret simple and complex instructions, work orders, and technical procedures. Ability to read and understand blue prints and specifications. Ability to research and resolve issues relating to projects. Ability to perform repetitive mental functions.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop, and kneel. Specific vision requirements include close-up vision.
