Position Overview
The Parade Media Lifestyle Group is looking for a seasoned, food-obsessed Deputy Editor to take its food and drink strategy to the next level. The ideal candidate will play a key role in charting the strategy and growth of Parade.com's food channel, working with this premiere legacy brand that boasts Julia Child as its first food editor. In addition, the DE will work to integrate and grow the digital presence and footprint of newly acquired brands Moveable Feast and Roadfood, and collaborate with the SVP/Chief Content Officer on go-to-market strategy and execution. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are as creative as you are strategic. An expert in building food and drink content around the personalities, trending chefs, influencers and creators driving today's conversation, you're also adept at curating, sourcing and editing recipes and other content for SEO, social and referrers, and sourcing and surfacing trending content that gets clicks. Strong knowledge of the food and drink landscape, SEO, social and video, and a proven track record of leading a high-performing team and shaping and executing content strategy to grow audience and engagement is a must.
The Arena Group's expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $65,000 - $100,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group's total compensation and benefits available to its employees.
Responsibilities
- Oversee content planning and strategy, motivating the team to create content that engages the audience, while also delivering on growth goals
- Collaborate with SVP/CCO and Executive Editor, Lifestyle to develop a strategy that pulls traffic from a variety of platforms, including search, social, and email
- Collaborate with the SVP/CCO, EE Lifestyle and Audience team to leverage and grow SEO traffic and on social, video and newsletter strategy
- Recruit, develop, and retain promising food and creative talent
- Build strong teams and ensure all staff are well-trained
- Direct editorial staff in their content creation
- Collaborate with the revenue team in developing sponsored editorial opportunities
- Minimum 5 - 7 years of post-grad experience in digital media, with a focus on editing and directing content. Experience with a consumer digital food vertical a must
- Experience managing a small team
- Extensive experience with culinary content
- Deep knowledge of digital content best practices, SEO and audience development tactics
- Well versed in analytical & research tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, comScore, etc.
- Excellent communication, organization, leadership and time management skills
- Outgoing and collaborative personality with the ability to develop strong relationships
- Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
- Self-starter who is able to work independently

- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
