We are looking for a Deputy Editor who is passionate about the news to join our team in our New York office.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and edit content across various mediums, including articles, blog posts, social media, and website copy.
Assign articles and field pitches.
Sound news judgement.
Passion for politics and geopolitics a plus.
Ability to hold writers to deadline.
Conduct research to gather information and ensure the accuracy of content.
Fact-check information to maintain the credibility and integrity of written materials.
Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas and develop engaging content.
Tailor writing style and tone to the target audience and purpose of the content.
Revise and proofread written materials for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in writing and editing.
Requirements:
Proven experience in editing, writing, or a related field.
Strong command of the English language with excellent grammar and spelling skills.
Familiarity with copy editing techniques to ensure clarity and coherence of written materials.
Ability to conduct thorough research to gather accurate information.
Knowledge of SEO principles is a plus.
Understanding of fact-checking processes to maintain accuracy in written content.
Background in journalism or creative writing is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
This is an in-person position at our New York office, working from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $6,000.00 per month
