Your Impact:
The Rankings Deputy Editor for Rankings Content will produce rankings (aka “Best of”) content across all brands at Hearst Autos ( Car and Driver, Road & Track and Autoweek ). This is a consolidated cross-brand role but reporting to Car and Driver’s buyer’s guide team and contributing an expected 20 percent of their time to buyer’s guide needs. Growing demand from in-market shopper makes the work created by this role critical, and Hearst Autos requires an editor with deep industry and product knowledge who can drive best practices and insights across our three brands, someone with the SEO and digital know-how to maximize exposure and revenue. Simply put, we need an adaptable and high-performance person to produce and oversee this type of content.
This position will work closely with the audience team for keyword and SEO insights. It will work closely with freelancers, other Digital Directors, editors, and staffers to tailor Rankings content to each brand’s needs and to continually update the ever-shifting leaderboards of each vehicle segment. This role must also have deep industry/PR relationships, excellent communication skills, and product knowledge to keep current and on top of new product launches and details.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and write Rankings content for all three Hearst Autos O&O sites
- Manage a database of “Best of” lists and update on a continual basis
- Gather insights on new models and where they fit into each segment
- Develop new Rankings content concepts
- Tailor content to each brand
- Ensure quality control for each Rankings list
- Remain at the leading edge of SEO insights
- Drive SEO/structural/user-interface best practices across all three titles
- Work with writers and editors at each brand to produce additional Rankings content
- Work with the e-commerce team to develop “Best of” product round-ups
- Contribute to Car and Driver’s buyer’s guide and other writing opportunities at C/D in all mediums.

The base salary for this role is between $83,000 and $100,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future .
This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
