Deputy Director, Marketing - Trucks & Off-Road

About The Role:

The Deputy Director of Marketing for Trucks, Off-Road at CALSTART will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans to promote our initiatives in these sectors. This position requires a dynamic and creative leader with a strong background in marketing, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sustainable transportation solutions. The Deputy Director will report to the Director of Marketing and work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. 

What You'll Do:

  • Strategic Marketing Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to promote CALSTART’s initiatives and projects in the trucks, off-road, and bus sectors. 

  • Market Research: Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape within the clean transportation industry. 

  • Brand Management: Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all marketing materials and campaigns. 

  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation of engaging content, including brochures, newsletters, press releases, case studies, and social media posts. 

  • Digital Marketing: Manage and optimize digital marketing efforts, including website content, email marketing, and social media campaigns. 

  • Event Management: Plan and execute industry events, webinars, and trade shows to promote CALSTART’s initiatives and engage with stakeholders. 

  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance CALSTART’s visibility and impact. 

  • Performance Analysis:Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns and initiatives, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement. 

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor marketing team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. 

What You'll Bring To The Table:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 

  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on the transportation or automotive industry. Experience with trucks, off-road, and bus sectors is highly desirable. 

  • Skills: Strong strategic planning and project management skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. 

  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms. 

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills. 

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the clean transportation technology industry and market dynamics. 

  • Added Bonus: Passion for sustainability and clean transportation solutions. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree 

  • Experience developing and executing campaigns across a many time zones and languages 

  • Experience with customer segmentation, profiling and targeting 

  • Mailchimp and/or Salesforce experience

  • The ability to make things happen quickly 

$105,630 - $120,260 a year

CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is  $105,630 - $120,260. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
