BACKGROUND:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 2007, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women, and Black women.
NDWA was founded in 2007 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country. Our national alliance has grown from this founding group of 13 organizations to now more than 70 affiliate organizations, and local chapters developed by NDWA. To date, the Alliance comprises more than 250,000 nannies, housekeepers, and home care workers in all 50 states.
Position Summary:
National Domestic Workers Alliance and Care in Action is looking for a highly motivated Special Assistant to theDeputy Executive Director of Programs This position requires a high level of organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to juggle multiple projects, detail-oriented, committed to transparent data and analytics practices, and handle administrative duties. The staffer should be a self-starter who can multitask and hit various deadlines. Commitment to the mission is a must.
PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling and Calendar Management:
Manage the Deputy Executive Director of Programs' calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient scheduling of meetings and events.
Anticipate scheduling conflicts and proactively resolve them to optimize the Deputy Executive Director's time.
Confidentiality:
Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
Maintain confidentiality in all communications and interactions, ensuring that privileged information is protected at all times.
Special Projects:
Provide support to theDeputy Executive Director of Programs on special projects, initiatives, and assignments as needed.
Conduct research, gather data, and prepare materials to support the successful completion of projects.
Retreat Planning:
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of departmental retreats, meetings, and events.
Manage logistics, including venue selection, catering, accommodations, and transportation arrangements.
Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure smooth and successful retreats.
State Teams Support and Service:
Work with state teams to support, enhance, and execute programs. This includes assisting state teams in employing program implementation best practices.
Interaction with Political Stakeholders:
Serve as a point of contact for political stakeholders, including elected officials, government agencies, and advocacy groups.
Facilitate communication and engagement with political stakeholders as needed, representing the Deputy Executive Director and the organization's interests.
Stay informed about relevant policy developments and legislative initiatives that may impact the organization's mission and programs.
Travel:
Coordinate travel as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience providing high-level administrative support, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and calendar management software.
Experience in political event planning and coordination is a plus.
Able to Travel if needed
