Summary
THIS POSITION: Responds to any death within Kootenai County which occurs as a result of homicide, suicide, accidental causes or when such death occurs under suspicious or unknown circumstances or when the physician attending during the last illness cannot certify the cause of death. Investigations to include: on scene response; securing evidence; authorizing and arranging autopsies and certifying the cause and manner of death. This position will fulfill the requirements of Idaho Code, Sec. 5-219; 16-1619-1620; 19-4301-4309; 31-1505, 2217, 2801-2809; 39-3401-3412; 34-622, as pertains to the duties of Coroner and responds to and participates in the on-scene investigation of unnatural and/or unattended deaths.
- $24.49 - $29.10 per hour

DO YOU QUALIFY?
- Do you possess a valid driver’s license and are insurable?
- Do you possess or have the ability to obtain certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) within 18 months of employment.
- Do you have two years of college level coursework in the field of law enforcement, forensic science, biology, health science or related area such as paramedical training or six months experience in crime scene investigation or related activity?
- Are you adept at dealing with highly stressful situations in the workplace?
- Are you able to seamlessly cooperate with multiple Law Enforcement Agencies, Funeral Homes, the Forensic Institute, Federal Agencies, Attending Physicians and the Public?
- Do you have Hazmat Awareness?
