**This position will be working in a surgical setting with facial trauma patients**
Job Summary and Qualifications What you will do:
- Inspect, assemble, package and label instruments and equipment. Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Under direct supervision, provide chair side dental assistance to the Prosthodontist, including the distribution and position of dental instruments, equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assist in the development of treatment plans for patients.
- Complete lab tasks as required including preparation, dispensing and maintaining lab supplies and materials.
- Sterilization and decontamination of instrumentation, equipment and material supplies, as well as testing and record keeping in compliance with all regulatory agency and safety guidelines.
- Expose digital bite-wing, panoramic, and periapical radio graphs using sensors and phosper plates. Mount digital bitewing, periapical and panoramic radio graphs in their appropriate position.
- Review, coordinate, and collaborate with front office, Prosthodontist, and Dental Lab Technicians about patients’ health, needs and labs.
- Effective communication with management, providers, co-workers and patients.
- Performing other duties as required to support the Prosthodontic team
- Will also be responsible for scheduling patients and procedures
What you will need:
- Associate degree in dental assisting OR certified as a Dental Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board.
- Three years of experience as Dental Assistant required; five years preferred.
- Experience in Prosthodontic dentistry preferred.
- Certified as a Dental Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board preferred
- Diploma from a CODA-Accredited assisting program or DANB CDA certification or DANB RHS Certificate of competency or Certificate in radiation safety from applicable state OR certificate documenting completion of a structured course of training in radiation safety
- BLS Certification
