Job Overview:
We are offering highly competitive pay to quickly fill a registered Dental Assistant position. The office is Coulter Family Dentistry in the Bearden area of Knoxville.
The office is modern and high-tech. We work with digital xrays, digital scanning, 3D printing, in-office milling or restorations, Invisalign, high end cosmetics and digital photography. If you have experience with these technologies the office would love to talk to you. If you don't have experience with these technologies, but are a fast learner and hard worker, please also apply! While many modern technologies are utilized, the office is still a bread and butter dental practice. Crowns and fillings are still the primary procedures performed.
This is a contract position, lasting from now until September. It is an excellent opportunity to work with am fun-loving team, expand your assisting skills, and gain marketable experience.
General Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
- Assist with taking dental x-rays and developing them for diagnostic purposes
- Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, handing instruments to the dentist as needed
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions
- Perform basic dental receptionist duties, such as scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records in Dentrix software
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and order new supplies as needed
- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, procedures, and terminology
- Familiarity with Open Dental software is a plus
- Proficiency in taking dental x-rays and using aseptic techniques
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively
