SalaryWe are looking for a hard-working, reliable, and safety-minded individual with great customer service to join our team as a De-Pollution Laborer. this laborer will perform general laborer metal processing, upgrading, manual labor and assisting technical workers. Extract chemicals from discarded appliances, such as air conditioners or refrigerators, using specialized machinery. A De-Pollution laborer shall be able to learn new skills on the job, progress to more technical tasks, and become more independent duties until the workday is completed. This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate safety equipment, and use safe work habits;
- Extract chemicals from discarded appliances, such as air conditioners or refrigerators, using specialized machinery;
- Sort materials into appropriate containers for recycling;
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, power lifts, or front-end loaders to load bales, bundles, or other heavy items;
- Organizing materials to have more effective use of space.
- Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate safe manner
- Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
- work on vehicle de-pollution rack to remove fluids from vehicles before crushing.
Qualifications
- Attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
- Must pass background, medical Physical, and Drug screen to be considered for this direct hire
- Great customer service
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers.
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, good organizational and mathematical skills, basic negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
De-Pollution Laborer must be capable of being on their feet most of the day as well as: Work Environment: Scrap metal yard, outdoor all-weather conditions.
- stand and walk frequently on uneven ground and throughout the yard.
- lift and carry 35 pounds, capable of repetitive motion and be able to handle physical labor.
- Must pass Medical Physical
- push and pull occasionally when moving materials.
- crouch or bend at the knees consistently to move or access materials or equipment.
- stoop or bend at the waist consistently to move materials.
- reach at arm’s length and overhead frequently.
- twist and turn at the neck and trunk continually.
- climb occasionally when obtaining items.
- manual dexterity required, as the Inspector will handle, grasp, and manipulate materials constantly.
- communicate clearly by speech and hearing continually.
- possess visual acuity needed for close detail work and documentation; and
- possess mental dexterity to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness of their environment.
