Description of Responsibilities:
Great customer service skills. The Adult Day Program instructor will provide direct support and training to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities at Protected Harbor’s Day Training (ADT) program. Program Instructors assist with the acquisition, retention, or improvement of skills to support participation in daily, meaningful, valued routines in the community. Direct services and support include but are not limited to: assisting in maintaining a clean and safe environment, meal preparation, behavioral needs and personal care assistance, and daily living skills. This person will also be supervising and teaching the individuals served with the goal of fostering increased independence.
Required Skills:
· Ability to meet our approved driver qualifications in order to drive our vehicles, as required to drive for program related business Strong interpersonal skills and effective judgment for use in interviewing and evaluating and working with the person served.
· Writing and vocabulary skills;
· Documentation of accurate case management notes.
· Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Division of Vocation Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Technologies, and Instructional Techniques
· Meet all the employment qualifications and pass all background screenings. This includes a Level II and Local background, and drug screenings.
- Ability to manage time, set priorities and to organize and follow structured routines.
- Must demonstrate exceptional problem solving and customer service skills.
· Successful completion of all initial and annual training.
- Personal integrity, character, and reputation and willing to model Christian values and lifestyle to the clients.
· A willingness to encourage individuals to grow spiritually through devotions, prayer at meals, Discipleship participation and regular church attendance.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Required Experience:
· Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire and possess at least a high school degree or GED.
· Must be able to complete, within 90 Days of Hire: Direct Care Core Competencies, Zero Tolerance, and other required trainings under the Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver Handbook and Protected Harbor.
· Certification in CPR, First Aid
· HIV/AIDS/Infection Control or able to be trained in same.
· Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license.
· Florida car registration and proof of automobile insurance is required.
