We are now hiring a Full-Time Day Program Coordinatorin Binghamton, NY. The Day Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing all day habilitation activities, assisting consumers in scheduled and regular community activities, and/or volunteer, educational or programs.
Starting pay is $21.00- $23.00/ per hour
Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Director of Community-Based Services
- Will supervise day habilitation
- Meet with Executive Director regularly to maintain open communication and discuss program needs
- Maintain a high-quality program in accordance with company standards, mission and State regulations
- Assist Executive Director in obtaining and processing referrals
- Meet with consumers, family members, case managers, guardians, residential staff and other interested parties to determine appropriate activities/goals
- Develop daily/weekly/monthly schedule for consumers, to maximize their time in the program and in the community
- Schedule support staff to assist consumers with their activities, and help staff as necessary
- Ensure compliance with all Medicaid documentationEnsure that all daily logs are properly recorded, and in compliance with State regulations
- Ensure that all staff training is current
- Meet weekly with Day Habilitation staff to train and address issues/concerns
- Maintain petty cash in compliance with Community Options policies and procedures as well as state regulations
- Organize and conduct fire drills per State regulations and Community Options policies and procedures
- Coordinate quarterly inspections of fire safety systems
- Coordinate and conduct weekly staff meetings
- Maintain up to date plans, per the individual's needs
- Ensure individual binders are up to date, purged and filed per Community Options guidelines and state regulations
- Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- One year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in residential, day habilitation, and/or employment services
- Previous management experience preferred
- Experience gathering information from a variety of sources, analyzing information, preparing reports and making presentations
- Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to utilize creativity and ingenuity in assisting individuals
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with a person receiving supports
- Knowledge and understanding of local regulatory agency operations
- Display understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with disabilities
- Flexibility to deal with people at a variety of levels, both internally and externally, exercise good judgment and use common sense
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to train staff and individuals
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (weight of average manual wheelchair when chair is empty
