Day Camp Assistant Counselor is responsible for assisting the Lead Counselor in the implementation and facilitation of daily activities and lessons of the Summer Day Camp program. The Assistant Counselor guides the social development of children ensuring a safe, enriching and healthy learning environment. The Assistant Counselor helps ensure safety of all participants and direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal Day Camp setting. The Assistant Counselor is expected to create positive and nurturing relationships with children while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers all focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Experience/Education/Certification Requirements/Requisite Computer Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. One or more years of college or equivalent professional experience in the field of Youth Development preferred.
- A minimum of one year experience working with children in lower elementary grades.
- Must have strong leadership and diplomacy skills.
- Willingness to participate in the following program areas: outdoor activities, archery, songs/music, skits, sports, swimming, field trips off-site, and recreational games.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $14.50 - $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
