Database Manager

We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Database Manager to lead our data management strategy and drive the vision for our organization's data infrastructure. As a Database Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the overall data storage strategy, implementing effective data retention and archival practices, optimizing costs, and providing leadership to the database team. Responsibilities:

• Data Strategy and Vision: Develop and communicate a comprehensive data management strategy aligned with the organization's goals, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and security.
• Data Architecture and Design: Lead the design and architecture of data storage systems, ensuring they align with industry best practices and support future business needs.
• Cost Optimization: Implement strategies for optimizing data storage costs, including evaluating cloud-based solutions, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
• Data Retention and Archival: Define and implement data retention policies, archival strategies, and data lifecycle management to meet compliance requirements and business objectives.
• Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to the database team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Manage team resources, workload, and professional development.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and business units, to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
• Performance and Scalability: Collaborate with technical teams to ensure data systems are optimized for performance and can scale to meet growing business needs.
• Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure the effectiveness of data management solutions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology (or a related field), or equivalent real-world experience.
• Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role focused on data management, with at least 4 years of experience.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and database design principles.
• Experience with cloud-based data storage solutions (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage).
• Knowledge of data security, compliance, and privacy regulations.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in budgeting, cost optimization, and resource planning.
