Database Developer

Joseph J. Albanese, Inc. is seeking a Database Developer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases and applications that interact with them. The Database Developer works closely with other developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure that the data and functionality meet the business needs and specifications. The Database Developer also performs database administration tasks such as backup, recovery, migration, optimization, and security. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze the data requirements and specifications of various projects and applications.
• Develop and test SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions for data manipulation and retrieval.
• Monitor and tune the performance, availability, security, and reliability of the databases and applications.
• Profile server resource usage and optimize and tweak per best practices.
• Perform data backup, recovery, migration, and integration tasks.
• Document and maintain the database structure, code, and processes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other developers and users.
• Research and evaluate new database technologies and trends.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining databases and applications.
• Ability to plan resource requirements from high-level specifications.
• Capable of troubleshooting common database issues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills for presenting solutions to both technical and business audiences.
• Proficiency with MS SQL Server
• Ability to write and optimize in-application SQL statements.
• Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements.
• Design and maintain MS Reports (SSRS)
• Design and maintain MS Integration packages (SSIS)
• Job Scheduling and Monitoring
• Knowledgeable of SQL Linked Services and Replication
• Working knowledge of application development life cycle
• Working knowledge with Version Control Tools such as DevOps, Git, SVN
• Experience with MS Visual Studio and building Business Integrations (SSIS packages)
• Experience with building RESTful APIs through use of MS Visual Studio or other third-party application
• Working knowledge of Postman or Insomnia
• Knowledge of best practices when dealing with relational databases and application development.
