Job Description
We are looking for a mid-level DBA to join a large insurance company located in Sacramento. The candidate will play a critical role in the core IT function and will be responsible for the design and maintenance of data storage structures that will meet the company’s security, data access, and business performance needs.
Responsibilities:
- Performs database installations, configurations, and upgrades for SQL Server and Azure Data Services.
- Designs, configures, and manages databases to ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of the organization's data.
- Implements standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access, and security administration
- Performs backup and recovery using Database Management Systems
- Monitors database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Configures database parameters and implements defined data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements
- Designs and implements approaches to improve database performance, capacity, and scalability
- Works directly with Development and QA teams to aid in the delivery and improvement of in-house developed applications
- Examine and identify database structural requirements by evaluating business operations, applications, and programming.
- Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal policies, procedures & processes and external regulations.
- Design, develop and implement solutions to migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Monitor applicable data performance by developing and implementing key performance indicators (KPI), metrics, and tests.
- Stays up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SQL Server and Azure data administration
Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on database theory.
- 5 years experience as a DBA specializing in SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Data Administration.
- Experience with Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Factory is a plus.
- Proficiency in database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with database monitoring and optimization tools.
- Strong knowledge of T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
- Preferred: MTA, MCSE, or MCSA with an emphasis on database administration
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
