POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Professional Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for keeping the database up and running smoothly 24/7 in order to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for building database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user's specialized role.
  • Designs and implements database in accordance to end users' information needs and views.
  • Assesses current database schemas, identifying and implementing improvements to schema, indexes, and other optimization and/or normalization to maximize efficiency.
  • Leads the design and implementation of a data warehouse that consolidates data from multiple sources, acting as the central repository for integrated data.
  • Designs and implements strategies for deduplicating data and other mechanisms to ensure data cleanliness and accuracy within source systems and a data warehouse.
  • Partners with development and integration teams to support and provide oversight in designing and developing integration solutions and prototypes.
  • Defines users and enables data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.
  • Uses high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
  • Minimizes database downtime and manages parameters to provide fast query responses.
  • Provides proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
  • Determines, enforces, and documents database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Monitors database performance, implements changes, and applies new patches and versions when required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to develop a framework for information and analytics governance, as well as to sell and embed it in all levels of the business.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to technologists.
  • Coding knowledge and experience in several languages (ex. .NET, Angular, etc.)
  • Experience with popular database programming languages including SQL, CosmosDB, Azure Synapse for relational databases and upcoming nonrelational databases.
  • Experience with integration platforms (e.g. Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato)
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools.
  • Experience with operationalizing ML workflows using specialized MLOps frameworks such as Kubeflow, MLFlow, Liminal, Seldon Core, or general task orchestration frameworks such as AirFlow, Luigi, Argo, and others. This may also include MLOps tools such as Domino Data Lab, IBM, TIBCO, Superwise.AI, Arthur.AI, Modzy, ModelOp and others.
  • Experience working across multiple deployment environments including Microsoft Azure Cloud, multiple operating systems and through containerization techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Functions, and others.
  • Experience in one or more of the following commercial/open-source data discovery/analysis platforms: RStudio, Spark, KNIME, RapidMiner, Alteryx, Dataiku, H2O, SAS Enterprise Miner (SAS EM) and/or SAS Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning, Microsoft AzureML,.
  • Expertise in solving Azure SQL, CosmosDB, and Synapse problems.
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques such as generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, random forest, boosting, trees, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE), graph analysis, etc.
  • Ability to learn quickly, analyze situations and make decisions which support the ongoing success of MegaCorp.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or relevant experience)
  • Experience in data warehousing, data modeling and/or data analysis.
  • At least six years or more of work experience in data management disciplines including data integration, modeling, optimization, and data quality, and/or other areas directly relevant to data engineering responsibilities and tasks preferred.
  • At least three years of experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders in support of a departmental and/or multi-departmental data management and analytics initiative preferred
