The role sits within the Quality Analytics group in the R&D Quality (RDQ) organization, which is responsible for quality in R&D activities such as clinical trials. The Data Scientist will work with a team to address R&D Quality business challenges through the design and implementation of advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive models including generative AI. This role provides an exciting opportunity to bring innovative thinking to a fast-paced team experienced in deploying advanced data analytics. The scope of data to be analyzed ranges from data about R&D quality processes, to operations data from our R&D partners and beyond, to external data from industry partners and regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Establish partnerships across and beyond R&D Quality to understand key business challenges and frame problems
- Align with business partners on requirements, success criteria and strategies for communications, user testing and deployment
- Forge new connections with adjacent groups such as wider Q&C and Data Sciences
- Define innovative trending and modeling techniques to analyze data, build insights and help drive innovative process improvements
- Create new mechanisms to monitor for quality signals using outputs from analytics, including descriptive analytics, signal detection, natural language processing, machine learning, and time-series analysis
- Apply analytical/statistical methods to complex and disparate data sources
- Requires a Master's degree with 2 years, or PhD degree with 1 year of experience. STEM field (e.g. Computer Science, other quantitative Sciences, Information/Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics) preferred.
Required:
- Experience with developing applications for advanced AI (e.g. Generative AI), ML, NLP, or another data science specialization is required.
- Experience with one or more of data engineering, product management, UI/UX design, decision science and front-end application development is required.
- Experience with building data science and data engineering solutions to real-world problems and datasets required.
- Proficiency in a modern data science language (Python and/or R) required.
- "Does it work?" attitude to building data science solutions.
- High level of organization and ability to balance multiple tasks required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Ability to work effectively both solo and in a team is required.
- Experience with fast-paced agile software development / DevOps / MLOps is desirable.
- Proficiency in building and using business intelligence / data visualization tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, QLIK, etc. is a plus.
- At least 2 years' experience in a Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or Medical Devices environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point is strongly preferred.
- Up to 10% travel to internal/external meetings or sites.
- The anticipated base pay range for this position is $104K to $145K USD.
- The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
