Job Description
Position Summary:
The Data Governance Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data management needs, define data policies and standards, and oversee data quality initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement and developing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance Data Governance practices. This individual will also be responsible for providing guidance and training on Data Governance policies and procedures and working with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data management needs.
- Assist in defining data policies and standards and ensure compliance across the organization.
- Analyze data to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop strategies to mitigate data risks and enhance Data Governance practices.
- Assist implementation of data quality initiatives and monitor data quality metrics.
- Provide guidance and training on Data Governance policies and procedures.
- Work with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of data management tools, such as the First United Data Catalog to support metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and data profiling.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and trends in Data Governance.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of Data Governance principles, policies, and best practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of data quality concepts and techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with data management tools and technologies is a plus (e.g. Alation).
- 1+ years of experience in Data Governance or a related field is a plus.
- Professional certification in Data Governance, such as CDMP or DGSP, is a plus.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, information management, or data science. However, work experience will be of equal, if not greater, importance.
