Team Profile
The Finance Data Office (FDO) owns the Data Governance framework for the Finance Division. The FDO promotes best practices for data management with a focus on data quality while serving as Finances representative to the Firm on data matters through:
(1) Data Governance facilitating Finance-wide data governance processes through the Finance Data Governance Committee (DGC) including escalating and coordinating activities across Firmwide and other Divisional DGCs
(2) Issue Management managing, monitoring and reporting on Finance data issues
(3) Authority Data Sourcing managing sourcing of data to the Finance Data Warehouse (FDW) from the Firms data authorities and enabling the adoption of FDW data by Finance constituents.
Role Description
The FDO is looking for a self-starter able to balance the needs of following process with practicality to deliver value to our stakeholders. The ideal candidate understands datas importance to Finance and is able to effectively work with various levels of business and technology stakeholders toward data goals.
Finance has a number of data initiatives working toward a strategic data architecture. These include building out its Finance Data Warehouse and embarking on a multi-year plan to adopt the data warehouse broadly across its various functions and reports; broadening scope of integration with the Firms BCBS239 compliance program; building out Data Services team to monitor data quality of key data for Finance; collaborating with Firm Risk and Technology to develop standardization for data lineage exploring automation tooling; and implementing a Firmwide Data Policy. In each of these initiatives, metadata management is vital to promoting strong data management practices and good data quality. This role is a primary executor of these initiatives through maintaining the cataloguing of business, technical and controls metadata in the Firmwide Data Catalog.
Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to:
- Finance Data Warehouse
o Assist the cataloging effort of the Finance Data Warehouse in support of its consumers:
FSS Data Controllers: Identify upstream owners of data and assist with addressing existing issues related to the data
Future consumers of data from the Data Warehouse: Investigate if existing data is fit for their purpose
Auditors: Confirm data relevant for reports or business processes and the related control framework
o Execute the cataloging of upstream controls for data sourced into the Finance Data Warehouse
- Finance Data Authorities
o Adhere to metadata standards for Finance Data Authorities to meet Finance Data Standards
o Collaborate with Technology to enforce Finance metadata standards and support end to end data lineage
- Integration of FDW Data Sourcing with other Data Governance functions
o Data Issue Management: Help address existing documented issues to data through the Finances data warehouse catalog, collaborating with the Issue Management Team.
o Data Governance: Maintain the Firmwide Data Catalog through the data policy implementation work related to the Firms Prioritized Data Initiatives.
o Firmwide Policy Working Groups
QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant financial product knowledge
- Experience with data quality management, financial services or capital markets data preferred
- Experience with regulatory reporting preferred
- Exposure to data governance disciplines preferred
- Experience with metadata management tooling preferred (e.g, Collibra, MetaCenter, Solidatus)
