Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analyst to join our team at Vesper Risk, a technology and data-driven General Agency specializing in Workers Compensation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in analyzing and interpreting data, creating insightful reports, and contributing to the overall success of our General Agency operations.
Main Accountabilities
  • Develop and maintain various reports related to workers compensation insurance, including underwriting performance metrics, claim analytics, loss trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor and analyze underwriting data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in risk selection and pricing strategies.
  • Generate ad hoc reports and analyses to support underwriting decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with underwriting and cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure data accuracy.
  • Utilize SQL to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets efficiently.
  • Create and update standardized reports for regular distribution to internal stakeholders, with a specific emphasis on underwriting performance.
  • Monitor and assess underwriting KPIs to identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to provide actionable insights to the underwriting team.
  • Collaborate with the data science team to enhance risk assessment models related to underwriting.
  • Utilize tools such as Alteryx for data preparation and blending.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Data Analyst role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
  • Familiarity with workers compensation insurance and General Agency operations.
  • Experience with tools such as Alteryx is a plus.
  • Actuarial exam progress or certification is advantageous (Eligible for company actuarial study program).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated

Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $120,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
