Purpose: The purpose of the Data Analyst, Medicines Quality Organization (MQO) Quality Systems role is to guide the business to ensure Lilly effectively monitors and improves metrics and dashboards used by MQO and internal partners that support our strategic priorities. This role actively develops and implements analysis, visualization, and business interpretation solutions and prepares and presents quantitative and other reports and data analysis presentations for various audiences.
This role will collaborate closely with members of the MQO team, as well functional leaders, and subject matter experts across Regulatory, Global Patient Safety, Clinical Design, Delivery and Analytics (CDDA), Quality, Learning & Development, and Information and Digital Solutions (IDS). Based on the situation, this role will be responsible for the implementation of quality initiatives.
Functional and Technical Expertise
- Accountable for the implementation of technical solutions to monitor procedural compliance, identify quality risks, their root causes, and the rate of success of historically implemented risk mitigation initiatives.
- Innovate/update technical solutions to develop quality trending/monitoring/issue identification that meet business partner needs.
- Utilizes risk-based program testing methodologies to ensure quality data output from technical solutions.
- Ensure quality and operational excellence of teams, support performance of processes, and create and/or manage operational metrics.
- Perform trend analyses, establish thresholds for action, and identify appropriate intervention in partnership with the business process owners and leadership.
- Analyze business processes to determine innovative approaches that create significant added value to the business.

- Integrates across functions to maintain knowledge of current events, understand trends, and gain connection with business partners.
- Works closely with management and functional teams to resolve complex issues. Influences complex regulatory, business, or technical issues within a business area and/or function.
Problem Solving
- Leverages experience delivering work products, and technical capabilities to discern problem, translate issues, and facilitate problem solving. Build CAPA action plans and monitors effectiveness.
- Leads teams in the process of resolution of issues; including resolution of conflict and building an environment to focus on the expedited resolution of issues. Escalates issues and manages the interfaces to ensure issues are well researched, understood and resolved.
Technical Leadership & Decision Making
- Programs and tests data reports, dashboards and analytics in a manner that allows for seamless downstream consumption, standardization, and integration of data.
- Understands end-to-end data programming, testing, data technology, data flow, and data standards.
- Collaborates with data experts and key stakeholders to deliver standardized reports, dashboards and innovative analytic solutions.
- Provides key data (compliance, conformance, risks, issues) to senior management to drive decision making in support of data decisions and/or the portfolio.
- Shares key learning's to drive simplification and replicate best practices, drives quality into the business.
Customer/External Focus
- Acts as quality expert consultant to the business and external parties. Builds relationships with internal and external customers and partners. Manage operational issues and support technical issue resolution including serving as the Quality Assurance representative for Learning and Development.
- Works closely with MQO Systems, Training, Business Process Management, and other areas to ensure there is awareness of systematic issues and compliance concerns. Works as part of a cross-functional team to develop effective systems and processes.
- Maintains external focus, exchange with counterparts or competitors and is key member (leader) of external committees (pharma and/or quality).
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above, ideally in computer science/data analysis/informatics, or equivalent and relevant work experience
- Experience with Python or R for data preparation, analysis and process automation.
Additional Preferences:
- Advanced degrees preferred but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Systems.
- Exceptional learning agility and technical aptitude.
- Ability to communicate complex data integration concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of data governance and security practices.
- Familiarity with MS Power Platform components such as Power Apps and Power BI, and the ability to integrate them seamlessly using Power Automate.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand data integration requirements.
- Global perspective and working across functional and geographical boundaries.
- Demonstrated understanding of quality management system principles, including policies, procedures, and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to identify root cause and manage difficult global business/quality issues.
- Demonstrated understanding of IT solution development and testing requirements.
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, specifically in clinical development, is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated ability to operate within large global organizations.
- Project management experience.
Additional Information:
- 10% travel may be required.
- This is an onsite position based in Indianapolis, IN. This is not a remote role.
