Data Analyst
Simatree is actively looking for an experienced Data Analyst to collect, process, and organize data to provide analysis and findings in support of our government client. You will develop immersive stories that answer tough business questions and drive business value for business stakeholders.
This position will support data governance for Simatree’s government client. The work location is virtual, but you may be required to travel on occasion. The ideal candidate is a Master's Degree graduate looking to start work in late spring.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Support the programmatic development of operational applications of the tools or analysis that are focused on operations research and document findings.
- Conduct research into management, organizational, and business practices to assess or implement improvements to ensure compliance with acquisition procedures.
- Maintain a database to produce monthly financial reports, and track, process, and distribute deliverables and monitor comment status.
- Utilize R statistical programming and Python programming to preform analyses and develop new tools using popular data visualization libraries such as ggplot2, plotly, matplotlib or bokeh.
- Utilize ArcGIS to perform analyses and develop new web map applications that summarize results from deep learning/AI algorithms.
- Support workforce analysis studies that involve design and development of data collection surveys using ArcGIS Mobile Field Apps.
- Perform routine administrative support to the unit and federal staff which could include maintaining GitHub version control on programmatic scripts, documentation on products made, and preparation of executive level presentations using Microsoft Office.
- Maintain and enhance R Shiny business intelligence dashboards using best practices in web development design with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript embedded into R scripts.
- Support a Sr. Data Scientist with the mathematical computation required for the development of deep learning/artificial intelligence algorithms; linear algebra focused.
- Support a Sr. Data Scientist in the design and management needed for analytical computing requirements, i.e., AWS EC2 and S3 support and Linux Bash script development.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with R statistical programming and Python programming.
- Experience with R Shiny business intelligence dashboards.
- Strong organizational skills. Must be able to work independently and to multitask.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages based on intended audience (e.g., explaining a concept to a business-oriented external stakeholder vs. technical documentation of that concept for internal use).
- Ability to work in a remote environment, but be able to travel, when needed.
- Ideal location: Washington, DC metropolitan area, but flexible.
- BA/BS degree in statistics, computer science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of related experience in data management, analysis, and reporting.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
