SUMMARY
Under general management, provides day to day supervision to the Cytology laboratory team for both operational and human resources management. Directs workflow, resolves technical problems and ensures laboratory operations conform to established standards. Ensures the accurate and timely reporting of clinically useful results. Provides technical direction and develops, monitors and takes appropriate action to improve overall departmental quality. Ensures training and competency assessments are completed. Performs duties as a Cytotechnologist as needed.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in medical laboratory science or life sciences. Certified Cytotechnologist (ASCP) required. Must meet the federal requirements of CLIA 88 qualifications for laboratory supervisor.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as cytotechnologist required with at least 1 year of supervisory experience in a laboratory environment preferred. General experience working with LIS products required.
SKILLS
Demonstrated organizational, leadership, and teamwork skills. Strong analytical, problem resolution and business judgement skills. Must be able to multi-task. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
