Custom Solutions Intern

Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc., a privately held company, is an authorized sales and service center for the Swagelok Company, a $2B global organization that designs, manufactures, and delivers an expanding range of the highest quality fluid system products. Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. serves customers in Eastern New York State (23 counties in the Tech Valley), the State of Connecticut, the State of Vermont, and Western Massachusetts (4 counties) since incorporation, May 1972.

Summary:

Reporting to the Custom Solutions Manager, the Custom Solutions Intern will assist in the Custom Solutions department of Swagelok Albany. The intern will gain experience working closely with engineers developing their Solidworks/CAD skills, will learn how Swagelok products function within fluid systems, and will gain exposure to the production side of the business. The Custom Solutions Intern will also collaborate across departments and will interact with the Sales Manager, Salesmen, Inside Sales, Engineers and Fabricators, gaining exposure to multiple disciplines within the business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work with Engineers to assist in the development of an improved system layout

• Collaborate with the engineering team on day-to-day customer project list, develop Solidworks layouts and build drawings for customer systems and assemblies

• Gain proficiency in a variety of technical aspects of the Swagelok Products library

• Partner in the development of Swagelok Albany’s revised Solidworks / CAD parts library

• Work with the engineering department to develop standards / best practices to improve drawing appearances and presentation

• Collaborate on the development of a written work instruction outlining the inspection process for assemblies

• Become the conduit between the Field Engineer’s Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) and the Systems Engineer to assist in drawing final layouts

Qualifications:

• Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 required

• Mechanical Engineering major desired

• Evidence of collaborative work style, professionally and/or academically

• Demonstrated project management experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude as displayed through prior experience and/or course work

• Proven written and verbal communication skills

• Exposure to and proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, Solidworks, etc.)
