Custom Order Solutions Manager
Job Description
Production Operations
  • Establish in-house operations to support Custom Order operations including, but not limited to:
    • Kitting / Bag & Tag
    • Labeling / Marking
    • De-Reel / Bulk process
    • Din-Rail and Assembly
    • Cable & Control Panel Assembly
    • Manage production order scheduling, labor scheduling, order execution, quality, and safety
    • Lead and mentor VAS associates to deliver results
    • Collaborate with Operations, Material Control, & Continuous Improvement staff to ensure successful delivery of our offers, and enable scalable growth
    • Maintain equipment & ensure a safe working environment

Offer Management
  • Work with adjacent VAS leadership on the definition of new offers & launch planning
  • Define, implement & test processes to support the new offers
  • Adopt start-up mentality by adjusting to shifting priorities as the VAS silo and it's services/solutions offer becomes more clearly defined and aligned with customer needs.

Pipeline management
  • Maintain a weekly pipeline report of Custom Orders opportunities
  • Liaise with VAS BDMs to understand the scope, timing, and probability of pipeline opportunities
  • Assist VAS BDMs with assessing the feasibility of an opportunity, or by providing cost estimates
  • Collaborate with VAS BDMs and Inventory Control on the scheduling and material logistics of new orders

KPIs & Financial management
  • Track budgets for overall Custom Order operations & individual projects
  • Work with adjacent VAS leadership to ensure achievement of revenue and operational KPI's.
  • Financial: revenue, operating costs, & margin
  • Operations: OTTP, quality, safety
  • Offer: order metrics
  • Manage budgets including CAPEX and OPEX expenditures
  • Establish operational procedures, processes, reporting, and controls to ensure the delivery of VAS build volume safely and cost-effectively

Data & analytics
  • Create reports & dashboards
  • Analyze operations & recommend operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with finance on reporting & forecasting

About the role
As a member of the Value-Added Solutions Team, play a key role in the development and deployment of Custom Order Solutions in the Americas as a core way of working, that supports and enables the delivery of our strategic growth plans, through simple and scalable processes. This role supports the regional Value-Added Solutions initiatives by implementing in-house and partner build solutions while liaising with adjacent VAS silos: Design Solutions, Procurement Solutions, & Maintenance Solutions in the Americas.
Our customers include industrial manufacturing plants, machine builders, & system integrators.
The objective of our Custom Order Solutions offer is to help these customers simplify their procurement by delivering the products how & when they need them.
The offer range for Custom Order Solutions is divided into three levels of complexity and ranges from basic kitting to simple assembly, to advanced customizations & assemblies. The production operations high-mix / low-volume and are performed both in-house and through partners.
The Custom Order Solutions Manager's primary responsibility is to lead the day-to-day production operation. They will also have responsibility for process improvement, financials & reporting, and assisting with offer expansion.
What we're looking for
Essential:
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing operations
  • 3+ years in a supervisory role involving production manufacturing
  • Broad knowledge of electrical & mechanical components as well as assembly & manufacturing processes, and shop-floor operations
  • Hands-on abilities to layout, measure, assemble, wire, & inspect projects. Proficient with a broad range of hand tools, power tools, & inspection equipment.
  • Experience in production planning & scheduling, including the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects with various timelines
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills. Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Direct experience of training, mentoring and coaching others
  • Ability to analyze data and create reports & dashboards (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting & reporting
  • Familiar with continuous improvement concepts & mapping business processes
  • Strong interpersonal, written, & verbal communication skills
  • Good presentation skills, including the use of visual media (PowerPoint, Teams, etc)
  • Motivates self to learn, grow and achieve while motivating to do the same. Builds the knowledge and capability of others and the organization; always anticipating future capability needs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to lift 40lbs

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field
  • Experience with industrial automation & control products, manufacturing, or industrial distribution
  • Direct Distribution or Manufacturing Industry Experience and specifically as part of a process-driven environment
  • Ability to read mechanical & electrical schematics
  • Lean Six Sigma certification/experience
  • Electronics and panel building knowledge/experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with product/offer management
