Rate of Pay: $15.00 - Position Type: Full Time Details: Full-Time Open Untl Filled Apply Now Job Summary Under general direction the person in this position maintains city buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform custodial duties and minor repairs.
Assists in sanitation control and checks safety hazards. Performs cleaning and janitorial duties, limited grounds maintenance, and minor repair work, reports need for major repairs, keeps janitor's room neat, assists in control of sanitation. Essential Job Functions MAINTENANCE Checks and coordinates cleaning schedule on building rentals.
Maintains restrooms at all buildings, i.e. (commodes, sinks, walls, sweep and mop floors, mirrors, etc.) Maintains kitchen areas at all buildings, i.e. (sinks, refrigerators, freezers, counter tops, sweep and mop floors.
Empties trash receptacles and replaces trashcan liners. Vacuums carpeted areas and spot cleans carpets, if needed. Sweeps sidewalks in front of buildings.
Reports any needed repairs to Maintenance Supervisor. Assists in other departments as may be directed by supervisor. Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications Possess a valid Driver's License Willing to work overtime, weekends, and other non-standard hours when necessary. Hear well enough to respond to verbal communications, hearing aid acceptable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Verbal skills to communicate with supervisor, general public and coworkers.
Writing skills to clearly and neatly complete forms and reports. Reading skills to understand laws, regulations and policies pertaining to the operation of department and facilities. Knowledge of city and department rules, policies, and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and general public. Knowledge of safety and health standards regarding the operation of public buildings. Through understanding of the operation of custodial procedures, equipment, and techniques.
Education and Work Experience High School diploma or its equivalent. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work involves moderate risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions. e.g., working around moving parts, carts or machines, with irritant chemicals, etc.
Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, coats, goggles, or shields. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.
