Custodian (Part-Time)

The City of Waterville is accepting applications for the position of PART TIME CUSTODIAN. This is a semi-skilled position. Work involves the maintenance and minor repair of City Hall and associated grounds in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner. This part-time position generally works 20 hours per week, with additional hours as needed. Work hours are typically late afternoon into early evening.

High school diploma and valid ME driver’s license required. Previous experience in custodial work preferred.

Some of the job functions include:

• Performs manual tasks for the maintenance of the interior of the assigned facility (facilities) such as sweeping, moping, dusting, polishing etc., required for the proper maintenance of floors, corridors, halls, stairways, window sills, windows, chair rails, blinds, office furniture, rest room facilities, etc., in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Performs manual tasks for the maintenance of the exterior of the assigned facility (facilities) such as sweeping of walkways, shoveling of snow, application of ice control products, emptying of trash and other receptacles, washing of exterior windows, edging of grass and trimming of hedges, maintenance of flower beds, etc.
• Operates light equipment such as buffer, stripper, vacuum cleaner, snow blower, etc., necessary for the proper maintenance of the area assigned.
• Collects and properly disposes of rubbish and recyclable materials.
• Ensures the replenishment of rest room supplies.
• Assists with the movement of furniture and equipment as directed.
• Ensures the proper security of the facility (facilities).
• When requested, transports outgoing mail to the Post Office.
• Performs light facility maintenance tasks such as painting, glass replacement, furniture assembly, etc.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

• 4 hour shift
• Afternoon shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
