Custodian-Part Time 10 Hours Per Week

Catholic Charities provides emergency services, the necessities of life, to the most impoverished residents of communities. It also strives to find permanent solutions to crises by offering clients the tools and resources they need to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.

Today, Catholic Charities operates 18 community centers and eight homeless shelters and also serves the poor with multi-faceted programs, including: after-school child care; immigration, refugee, youth employment and psychological services; homework assistance and tutoring; English as a Second Language (ESL) and General Education diploma (GED) classes for adults; and services for homebound seniors and pregnant and parenting youth. In this way, Catholic Charities maintains a continuum of care for clients as they move from vulnerability to self-sufficiency. In addition, the agency’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) program coordinates interscholastic athletics for Catholic elementary schools in Los Angeles County.

El Santo Nino Community Center is seeking a dependable, energized, hard working individual to maintain and clean the community center for two hours a day, five days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Keep community center clean and orderly condition.
• Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, vacuuming, windows, walls, appliances, fixtures and bathrooms
• Move furniture and misc. items, as needed.
• Empty waste receptacles.
• Sweep, scrub, mop, and clean floors, bathrooms.
• Stock supplies to include restroom paper products and toiletries.
• Notify supervisors or managers of major repairs.
• Clean, polish office tables, chairs, desks and all other furniture used in the office or shelters.
• Clean kitchen counters, , refrigerators and stove.
• Clean stoves and refrigerators.
• Keep all facility meeting rooms clean and in order.
• Perform any other related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma preferred but, ability to read and write and comprehend basic English required
• At least 6 months of related experience
• Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs
• Required to occasionally kneel, crouch, crawl and climb
• Must possess knowledge of cleaning procedures and practice
• Knowledge of work hazards and safe work practices
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, 10 hours per week
