CUSTODIAN
Objective and Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Principal and the Lead Custodian, the Custodian will assist to maintain an assigned facility, group of buildings, or office space in a clean, orderly, and secure manner following a predetermined schedule; and to do other related work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, strip wax, wax, and seal floors;
- Vacuum rugs and carpets, dust, wash and polish furniture and woodwork;
- Wash windows and polish metalwork;
- Replace light bulbs and lighting tubes;
- Empty and clean waste receptacles, including trash barrels; clean restrooms and work areas;
- Maintain multi-purpose room, stages, classrooms, office, lunchrooms, heating, and air conditioning systems, or any other specialized tasks as appropriate;
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment in preparing rooms for special meetings or events, parties or various other activities and cleans up afterward;
- May work extra hours to accommodate after school activities and functions;
- Perform periodic major cleaning projects such as scrubbing walls, and ceilings;
- Pick up paper and other debris from the ground, walk areas, and areas adjacent to the facilities; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to buildings;
- May take charge in the absence of the Lead Custodian;
- Secure building against vandalism, lock and unlock doors, turn off light switches and generally patrol the building and grounds;
- Perform minor repairs as able; and (i.e. windows, doors, switches, desks, tables, equipment and appliances, sinks, toilets, blinds, minor electrical and plumbing, walls, repair effects from minor break-ins and other vandalism, etc.)
- May assist in distributing supplies and/or equipment; and,
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year experience in custodial work preferable.
- Operation of heating and ventilation equipment, door closures, combination locks, and mechanical equipment commonly found in schools.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions at a level required for successful job performance.
- Knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the preferred methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls and fixtures; cleaning materials, disinfectants and equipment used in custodial work.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple constituencies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Afternoon shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
