Job Summary
This full-time working lead position manages the scheduling for the day to day operation of the Custodial Department (2nd Shift) in a fast-paced, changing environment, 5:30pm - 1am. Takes on cleaning tasks, oversees and inspects employees' work, and coaches employees where and when needed.
Must be available to work events, weekends, any overtime and holidays as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and motivates staff, including reviewing and evaluating work quality / performance, ensuring work is completed on-time and at high quality.
- Management of Weekly Schedules, coordination of Event Schedules, covering vacations and absenteeism as necessary to ensure that all work is completed.
- Provide training and guidance to custodians in cleaning procedures and proper use of chemicals and equipment
- Works cooperatively with department heads to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.
- Responsible for working with the Custodial Department Manager to ensure that equipment and supplies are available and in good operating order.
- As needed, performs custodial duties as a working Team Lead, including all routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, washing windows and walls, restocking supplies, trash removal, recycling, and sanitation of waste receptacles.
- Ensure buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots are neat and clean. Assisting with snow removal and sanding may be required.
- Must be available to work special events, weekends, overtime, holidays, and festivals when scheduled
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-3-years of Custodial experience and skills, including but not limited to training, performance evaluation, setting and demonstrating standards for tasks and overall professionalism.
- Candidates must demonstrate ample knowledge of cleaning safety procedures and certifications, methods, materials, equipment, and an ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
- Candidates must be able to function well in a team/community environment, displaying common courtesy and politeness; custodial work involves frequent interaction with patrons, co-workers, and administrators.
- Candidates must be hard-working, reliable, punctual, and dedicated.
- Candidates should be able to work independently and must be self-motivated.
- Must be available to work special events, weekends, overtime, holidays, and festivals when scheduled.
Work Conditions
- Outdoor work and work in inclement weather may be required as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk for long distances, lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis, and must be able to perform repetitive physical assignments.
- Must be able to wear PPE as needed.

As defined by the National Labor Relations Act, this position is part of the bargaining unit for UAW Local 2110.
Non-exempt. Minimum starting wage: $17.50.
