CTD Temporary Summer Residential Director
CTD Academic Summer Camp at Northwestern University
The Residential Director (RD) serves as the top-most point of contact for all residential staff, students and their families. The RD provides the Program Coordinator (PC) with daily updates on staff and student needs, including student, staff, and facilities emergencies. The RD collaborates with the PC and Academic Director (AD) to ensure that the residential program supports the student experience. The RD supports and directs the work of the Assistant Residential Directors (ARDs) who manage student Health & Housing, Weekday Activities, and Weekend Activities." RDs live in the residence hall for the duration of the program and have rotating on-call responsibilities.
Employment Dates and Stipend
Full time work June 9 - August 3, 2024.
Starting salary $6,300 increasing to $6,600, plus room and board
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
Significant experience synthesizing multiple sources of information into easy-to-use resources for staff.
Proven staff leadership experience in an educational setting; staff management experience in a residential setting preferred.
Exceptional organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork.
Professional demeanor; motivated, flexible, team-oriented, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
Experience identifying and addressing the social-emotional needs of middle school students or adolescents preferred.
Must be able to traverse distances of at least one mile with or without accommodation.
Must be able to lift and/or maneuver at least 40lbs.
Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
General Responsibilities
Learn, implement, and uphold CTD policies and procedures, including the CTD Honor Code, with staff and students.
Ensure implementation of CTD's standard of supervision at all times .
Design and deliver training for residential staff."
Support and supervise Assistant Residential Directors.
Provide ongoing supervision of and support to residential staff.
Foster community among staff and students that is inclusive, positive, safe, and fun."" "
Communicate with and respond to NU Residential Services personnel to support the residential program.
Manage NU facilities and property, including residence halls, hardware, and financial assets.
Manage and appropriately document a residential budget according to university policies and procedures.
Serve as primary contact for families.
Communicate schedules to CTD staff and students. "
Read and respond to daily student health and behavior reports.
Conduct and document performance remediation conversations with students and staff; follow-up with CTD administrators and parents as needed.
Support development of social-emotional skills among students."" "
Support student health regarding diet and exercise, hygiene, sleep, stress management, and any specific health needs indicated by the family.
Evaluate residential staff performance.
Evaluate Summer Program and Summer Program staff."
Provide support to any CTD program on the Evanston campus, as needed.
Assume program related responsibilities as requested by CTD administrative staff."
Must be willing to drive Northwestern University-provided mini-vans around campus and across town.
