GENERAL FUNCTION:
Develop and implement processes to support the bank's portfolio composition monitoring and optimization efforts, while ensuring the bank has a sound and balanced view of the health of industry and product segments noting areas of increasing risk and increasing opportunity. Provide a monitoring function of various credit administration and borrower characteristics which offer insight into changing portfolio risk levels. Act as a partner to lines of business for Credit Risk analysis, monitoring and risk/return evaluations.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and Reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement a dynamic industry and LOB segment risk evaluation and monitoring program, including standardized risk measures and ability to obtain, analyze, and report on portfolio details within those industries/LOB segments that are sensitive to the point in the business cycle.
  • Provide loan level and borrower level monitoring tools for use by Credit and LOB personnel to proactively manage risks in the portfolio before they become problems, including scorecards and other tools
  • Perform analyses of Credit Risk in portfolio segments providing insight into historical risk trends, projected levels of risk and performance, and pricing for risk using various methods including risk adjusted returns.

Provide industry white papers and analyses to support the bank's view of an industry sector's point in the business cycle, including opportunities where expansion is expected and exposure reduction recommendations where contraction or elevated default risk is expected, including early warning triggers:
  • From spread financial ratios of existing customers
  • Industry cycles and economic signals
  • Triggers from asset quality trends and other data
  • Provide input and support to ensure data quality in Enterprise Data Warehouse

  • Prepare, review, and distribute Credit Risk reports to executive management and board level committees. Include insightful commentary, as appropriate, targeted to those audiences.
  • Prepare and distribute periodically risk management reports including industry and borrower trend analysis, portfolio management and migration reports.
  • Identify key risk indicators for meaningful aggregate level reporting. Include qualitative assessment / analysis of portfolio changes.
  • Present reporting results to management to facilitate increasing shareholder value.
  • Interact with LOBs to help provide additional reporting and insight to support future line growth strategies.
  • Provide loan level and borrower level reporting to allow proactive management of credit administration metrics that help control future Credit Risk, using an effective delivery system including intranet and other server or browser based tools.
  • Document, evaluate, and improve the design of reports in existence.
  • Improve access to and quality of data used.
  • Incorporate external macro economic variables into reporting and analysis.
  • Support future initiatives to produce customized customer level reporting.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required to fulfill departmental goals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth and developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Business Administration, Accounting or Finance undergraduate degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Computer Skills and Microsoft office products with strong Excel, Powerpoint and Access skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand various applications and business Intelligence / database tools: SAS, Business Objects, system reporting experience required.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with various in-house transaction systems, preferred.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to key stakeholders.
