Cost Basis Business Operations Associate

As a Cost Basis Business Operations Associate within our Client Tax Operations team, you will be responsible for supporting a team who executes the Cost Basis reporting function. You will provide an excellent opportunity to innovate and improve client experience while meeting regulatory obligations. You will gain specialized product, transaction and technology skills while building upon internal and external relationships with senior partners and clients. You will act as a subject matter expert to provide insight into Cost Basis related issues.

Job Responsibilities:

• Respond to complex requests for Cost Basis adjustments and associated client queries.
• Reconcile tax lot information in the Cost Basis system to ensure accurate 1099 reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that transactions are booked properly and are reflected accurately in the Cost Basis system.
• Research tax/Cost Basis consequences for corporate actions leveraging vendor's applications, SEC filings, and company websites to ensure that proper adjustments are made for impacted holders.
• Analyze historical records and information provided by clients and other investment firms in order to reconstruct and verify the accuracy of Cost Basis information.
• Assess corporate actions and determines the resulting Cost Basis implications.
• Validate processing accuracy and makes adjustments when disparities occur.
• Audit the accuracy of completed Cost Basis calculations and provides coaching and feedback to associates in order to continuously improve department quality metrics.
• Communicate with internal business partners to provide updates on the status of their requests and/or solicit additional information through composing written correspondence and outcalls.
• Analyze processes and workflows for potential efficiency enhancements and make recommendations to management and participates in action steps required to implement process improvements.

• Working knowledge of Cost Basis concepts and/or tax reporting experience
• Ability to collaborate across teams in a client impacting function
• High level understanding of the securities industry and broker-dealer tax reporting requirements
• Ability to operate in a deadline oriented environment
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to function as part of a team, learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent time management, problem resolution, research and communication skills. Computer proficiency required, ability to learn and utilize proprietary software such as Alteryx, Visual Basic, or other technical programs.
