The Cost Accountant assists with month end closing, including preparation of month end and quarter end reporting packages, and pursues process improvements such as report automation utilizing current or future ERP applications. Cost Accountant will assist in the establishing of product routings, costs and variance analysis.
Cost Accountants collaborate with other accountants and financial staff in the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization.
Their duties include:
Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
Developing and analyzing cost standards
Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
Performing account reconciliations
Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management
Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books
Supporting other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure
Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in month-end closing, preparing journal entries in areas such as inventory related adjustments and write-offs, reserves analysis, reconciliations, and data collection and preparation of monthly/quarterly reporting
Utilizie ERP applications, automate creation of the monthly and quarterly reporting packages to ensure timeliness and accuracy, providing direct download capabilities where possible to eliminate redundant data entry; also use extraction capabilities to perform adhoc projects and analysis
Assist in establishment of product routings, review of current routings and BOMs for accuracy, special costing projects, and provide management with accurate and timely reports.
Other duties as assigned, such as analyzing past and present financial results and estimating future revenues and expenditures for budget or forecast work.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Education or Equivalent: (Minimum required to perform job)
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a directly related field; 7-10 years General Accounting/Costing experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
Principles and practices of accounting procedures
Basic general accounting knowledge of a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of inventory processes
Knowledge of various computer software programs to include: Microsoft Excel, Word,
QuickBooks, NetSuite
Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
