Cost Accountant (Warehouse)

In this role, you will play a vital part in our growth trajectory.

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Cost Accountant to join our growing team. The Inventory Cost Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the inventory management process including daily, weekly, and monthly SKU and shrinkage variance analysis, ensuring that all inventory is accounted for and that costs are accurately recorded. The successful candidate will have a strong background in inventory management, cost accounting, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

·        Perform monthly accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly journal entries, related account reconciliations, and reporting.

·        Assist with the preparation of monthly budget vs. actual variance analyses.

·        Actively work with the related warehouse team members and accounting team members to develop and operate standard period-end closing schedules and desk procedures.

·        Assist with the execution and/or supervision of inventory existence procedures (wall-to-wall physical inventories and/or cycle count procedures) for company-managed and third-party locations.

·        Assist the Financial Controller with the monitoring and tracking of offsite inventory balances and sales activity.  Collaborate with the Innovation/Process Improvement team to develop a system solution for tracking this inventory.

·        Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.

·        Actively work with the Controller, Asst. Controller, and IT – Enterprise Reporting team in the development and testing of new inventory reports and assist in related user testing.

·        Handle non-routine inventory transactions (write up / write down)

·        Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.

·        Analyze inventory data to identify cost-saving opportunities.

·        Work closely with the purchasing and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate receipt of inventory.

·        Prepare LCM reserve calculations and supporting reports.

·        Assist with the preparation of schedules and/or reports required by external auditors in connection with the audit of the annual financial statements.

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field., an understanding of GAAP for inventory management and costing is required.

·        5+ years of experience in inventory management and cost accounting for consumer products related company with large SKU count

·        Experience with managing landed cost and standard cost calculations.

·        Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets.

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·        Experience with inventory management software, including EasyWMS (warehouse management system), Microsoft GP, and SalesPad systems.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel are required.

·        PowerBI, and the ability to write SQL report inquiries would be advantageous.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 per year. Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.

Reports to: Financial Controller. The position is based in NJ. Some light travel can be expected to corporate offices in Inwood NY and or other warehouse locations on a as needed basis.
