Position Description:
Looking for a motivated individual to join our cathodic protection team. Corrosion Technician will be responsible for all facets of field corrosion prevention duties including: external and internal corrosion control measures, atmospheric corrosion, tank corrosion, and AC corrosion. This will include design and installation projects, including operation/maintenance of project support.
The Corrosion Technician must also ensure compliance with company policies, procedures as well as federal and state regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Possess knowledge in internal corrosion control measures.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the internal corrosion chemical program, including extraction and insertion corrosion coupons.
- Knowledge on adjustments of chemical injection pumps. Schedule swabs runs and determine the amount of chemical required.
- Monitoring product downtimes and flow velocities
- Bacterial analysis and compositional water analysis
- Perform interrupted Annual and Periodic surveys, conduct proper interruption cycles, verify polarity and maintain half-cells.
- Adhere to NACE Standards to insure proper CP protection.
- Bi-monthly rectifier inspections, maintain, troubleshoot, repairs, proper tap settings (V/A)
- Inspection of above/below grade pipelines tanks and recoat projects. Identify unintentional exposed pipe, report and document.
- CP data review, interpretation and identifying NACE criteria. Field testing –verification of test stations, foreign interference, isolation points, critical bonds and shorted casings.
- Inspect the installation of deep wells and conventional ground-beds. Install rectifiers, solar rectifier units, and RMU’s. Set rectifiers and verify P/S readings.
- Maintain sacrificial anode systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair rectifiers, solar rectifiers and RMU’s.
- Supervise contractor crews for corrosion projects; (ground-bed installations, painting atmospheric piping, submerged pipeline coating, and installing various CP systems).
- Supervise and/or conduct CIS/Depolarization, DCVG and ECDA surveys. Verify data collection, and then follow analysis of data with remedial action plan.
- Perform ultrasonic thickness testing to determine metal integrity on piping and tanks.
- Knowledge with the one call system and line locators.
- Maintain, install, and/or repair faulty CP test stations, pipeline signs, and aerial markers.
- Knowledgeable in AC corrosion control measures, mitigation, monitoring and evaluation of data.
- Knowledge and understanding of the American Innovation PCS/CPDM program.
- Assist management in planning annual corrosion budgets.
- Assist with all regulatory inspections.
- Understand company procedures and maintain Operator Qualification (OQ).
- Complete special projects and annual objectives as assigned.
