Job Description
Position Description:
Under general supervision of the Health Service Administrator (HSA) and with latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Correctional Health Service Liaison (CHSL) Works in partnership with the Department of Correction (DOC) to resolve CHS concerns and issues relative to patient access to Health services.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational and follow-through to coordinate work plans, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism, courtesy, strong work ethic, integrity, regard for confidentiality and ability to work with discretion on sensitive matters.
- Ability to adapt to new situations, collaborate with team members, and work under pressure with minimal supervision, when necessary.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity in Operations management or health care administration.
- General knowledge of policies and programs utilized in the operation of a health care facility.
Detailed Tasks:
1) Act as an intermediary between CHS staff and DOC to ensure patient production for health care services.
a. Monitor patient production to facility-based and specialty clinic Health Services.
b. Conduct regular visits to housing areas or patient holding areas to ensure proper patient flow and to flag unnecessary delays in patient’s movement to DOC.
c. Immediately flag inadequate DOC staffing levels to the HSA and to DOC facility leadership daily.
d. Track movement of accepted and discharged patients into or out of CHS-managed programs or housing areas within the required time frames.
i. Monitor pending clinically indicated transfers.
ii. Provide oversight and escalation to ensure that patient housing assignments match their clinical needs.
iii. Timely flag at least twice a day inappropriate/delayed transfers of patients to DOC daily.
iv. Receive and ensure completion of prioritized patient movement requests from CHS clinical services.
e. Identify inappropriate movement patterns and flag to DOC facility leadership for resolution and HSA for escalation to Central Operations when deemed necessary.
f. Provide as-needed coordination of team huddles to disseminate patient movement related information to DOC.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering, Social Sciences, Health Care Specialization, Physical Sciences or related programs; and,
A minimum of two years responsible experience directly related to health care program planning, research, design, operation, evaluation and analysis; or,
2. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public or Hospital Administration, Health Care Specialization, Business Administration or related disciplines; and,
A minimum of one year experience directly related to health care program planning, research, design, operation, evaluation and analysis; or,
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience; and,
4. Demonstrated skills in written or oral communication.
