Corporate Vice President, HR Communications
Job Summary
We are seeking a Corporate Vice President of HR Communications to join our team. Reporting to the head of HR and Leadership Communications, the Corporate Vice President of HRCommunications will be a key partner for several HR Leaders in the delivery of their strategic objectives.
Your role will be to develop communications strategies and materials that educate and engage employees on everything in HR that drives our culture, from employee value proposition, to performance management and learning and development opportunities, and all the ways that New York Life strives to create a diverse and inclusive community. As a key member of the Corporate Communications team, you will also be responsible for aligning HR messaging with other enterprise-wide and local employee engagement efforts.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications plans and strategies that promote the culture at New York Life—including providing communications support to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Talent Management; Talent Acquisition; and Change/Organizational Development teams.
- Develop and deliver integrated, strategic communications campaigns that drive our employee value proposition—in support of employee engagement and a high-performance culture to attract, develop, and engage talent.
- Champion the delivery of all communication strategies and tactics as it relates to the company’s Employee Engagement and Organizational Health Index surveys.
- Provide counsel to HR senior executives on communications best practices, including suggesting appropriate vehicles for different messages and offering guidance on visuals, delivery, and tone.
- Be a creative storyteller with a keen understanding of audiences, probing for details that will make messages relevant and relatable.
- Ensure a consistent tone and voice for communications, balancing cultural sensitivities.
- Plan and conduct feedback mechanisms to guide development of future communications activities—analyze employee usage and user feedback, remain informed on industry best practices, and proactively provide process improvement suggestions for communications.
- Draft, review, edit, and gain approvals for communications materials for various channels, including email, the intranet, New York Life News, the careers section of newyorklife.com, etc.
- Partner with other Corporate Communications teams such as Editorial, Multi-Media, Digital and Design to provide comprehensive creative support for HR communication projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to an internal communication program that ensures a collective understanding of strategic business direction—and drives employee engagement—via messaging, practices, and processes.
- Manage internal and external resources to develop brand-consistent communication materials.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in various roles encompassing both internal and external communications.
- Exceptional track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies with excellence—be well organized, deliver high-quality work on time and according to expectations.
- Strategic thinker with excellent writing, listening, presentation, and storytelling skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trust with senior leaders in a corporate setting.
- Collaborative team player with successful experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
- Background in HR Communications highly desirable.
- Experience in the finance/insurance industry a plus.
- Hybrid environment: Office Tuesday through Thursday, working from home Mondays and Fridays.
