The Department of Physical Therapy at High Point University invites applicants for a core faculty position. Core faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy represent a diverse area of expertise and have differing roles within the Department. Collectively, core faculty are responsible for the delivery of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum, producing new research, and providing service to the Department, School, and University via advising, admissions, clinical care, committee service, and other responsibilities designated by the Chair. Core faculty have a differential workload, meaning each faculty member is allotted varying amounts and responsibilities for teaching, scholarship, administration, service, and clinical practice.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with a background in movement science and biomechanics with an interest in both DPT teaching and research. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a history of scholarly excellence, including peer-reviewed publications, and potential to pursue extramural grant funding and mentor student researchers. The Department of Physical Therapy at High Point University offers all the resources of a research-intensive institution with the quality of life of a small, private institution. We offer two outstanding, state-of-the-art movement analysis laboratory spaces (18,000 sq ft) in the Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory (HBAPL) and the Virtual Reality and Clinical Gait Analysis Laboratory (VRCGAL). The HBAPL includes 48, 3D motion capture cameras strategically placed to include coverage of hardwood court, running and turf functional areas, 14 tri-axial force platforms, a high-speed instrumented force treadmill, integrated wireless EMG, and pressure distribution systems. The HBAPL also contains a fully automated Golf Simulator, a climate-controlled Environmental Chamber and a fully equipped wet lab for cell culture, tissue and serum assays. The VRCGAL has a virtual reality treadmill, an overhead body support device, exoskeleton, and a forceplate mat. In addition, the Department of Physical Therapy has state-of-the-art imaging facilities including an Esaote .25T G-scan Brio WB-MRI scanner, a CurveBeam LineUP WB Extremity CT imaging system, a Hologic DXA scanner, and several Esaote MyLabAlpha musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound scanners.
